Living curiously
Our new collection shines a light on what it is to be young with an inquisitive mind.
Inspired by a great mind
We love the Albert Einstein quote “I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious” and it provided the very first spark of inspiration behind our brand new #LivingCuriously collection.
There's no shortage of curiosity and questioning here at Kite HQ so we knew stright away that it was a great theme to develop a thoughtful and beautiful range around.
The development of the idea
Each season Jo, our founder, creates a fun poem that sums up the ideas behind the collection.
We think that the natural curiosity of small people (perfectly shown by the very well-known 'why' phase!) is something we can all strive to hold on to.
Questioning and enquiring about the world around us is the best way to find out so many amazing things.
Why are bees so important for our planet? How is a rainbow made? What do giraffes eat? All ideas that helped inspire our fun and thoughtful range especially designed for all those wonderfully curious little ones out there #LivingCuriously.
Perfect prints
Hand drawn by our in-house artist Elizabeth, we lovingly bring our beautiful imagery to life. With an inspirational story behind every design, all of our artwork is thoughtfully created with passion and care.
From our on-trend land ahoy print to the simply adorable sheep dreams design and our unisex clever ellie range, we've got styles that we think you'll love.
Land ahoy!
We have been truly inspired by our forefathers who were brave and curious enough to sail away on long and treacherous voyages to discover new lands. From Captain Cook to Christopher Columbus, their ‘Land ahoy’ stories are something that we can only imagine… and so we have! Do you think they saw mermaids, rainbows and dolphins aplenty? We certainly hope so.
Farm garden
Right outside the back door of the farmhouse there’s a world of wonder for curious little ones. From chickens pecking at their feed and cats dozing in the sun to new puppies exploring the yard. This is an exciting place to be and has inspired our super special scene of farmyard heaven.
Rainbows
It’s hard to look at a rainbow and not feel curious about how and why it was made. Of course the answers are complicated and a little too scientific for small people, so we like to think of them as a perfect combination of sunshine and rain with a hidden pot of gold at the rainbow’s end!
Tapanuli Orangutan
Not everything was discovered centuries ago. It was only in November 2017 that scientists found that the orangutans in Tapanuli are a distinct species and not a subspecies of the Sumatran orangutan. Already sadly endangered, these wavy long-haired creatures are incredibly handsome and defintiely worthy of their very own t-shirt design.
My journey
Peeking out of the window what can you see? From cars to buses and traffic lights to post boxes, the world is full of fascinating new sights for little ones. Learning from everyday adventures like small journeys is what inspired us to create this beautiful new design.
Super sail girl t-shirt
Get inspired by curious super women who show girls just how much they can achieve. This design celebrates all the amazing female sailors who have sailed solo around the world – we want all girls to feel that their own curiosity can take them anywhere they want to go!
Honey bee
Thanks to bees and their super pollinating powers we can enjoy all sorts of delicious food from avocados to apples. And of course, a wonderful spread of flowers – in the wild or in the garden - is most likely down to our busy little friends as well. In honour of these special and much needed little chaps we’ve created some wonderful designs featuring them.
Dino dig
Jurassic Park, released over 25 years ago has inspired a whole new generation of palaeontologists! Once a rather dry subject studied by top academics Palaeontology is now practised by a growing and diverse group of scientists around the world. So here on our fab t-shirt we celebrate this amazing scientific field where dinosaur discoveries are what it’s all about.
Park life
Where better to start being curious as a child than the park! We particularly enjoy counting the swans in our local harbourside park. What do you love counting?
Clever ellie
Elephants are remarkably smart creatures. Their incredible brains mean that they are able to use tools to reach food, remember complicated journeys back to watering holes and even imitate human words! A truly marvellous mammal that we adore and celebrate through our beautiful celevr ellie stykes.
Sheep dreams
We discovered that this often underestimated animal is actually rather intelligent! Sheep have impressive memories, make friends and protect each other – so here we celebrate them in a rather adorable design that will make sure all little ones will have sweet sheep dreams.
