Kite wins at Soil Association Organic Awards
Kite has won the Fashion Award at the prestigious 2014 Soil Association Organic Awards for our Steam Engine T-shirt. We’re delighted to have our commitment to organic recognised by a public vote - a big thank you to all our supporters for voting for us.
The winners were announced on Wednesday 8 October at a high-profile Organic Awards ceremony held at STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway in Swindon and the awards were presented by Hardeep Singh Kohli – writer, broadcaster and organic enthusiast.
In short listing the judges based their decisions not only the quality of the product, but the organic story behind it – such as how the business and product went the extra mile in animal welfare, protecting the environment and wildlife, promoting health and serving the community.
Jo, who collected the award from Hardeep Singh Kohli, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award on behalf of the whole Kite team. Every garment we design and make is packed with original and thoughtful details, manufactured to the highest quality and produced with the lowest environmental impact. It is challenging in many ways to design and manufacture garments in organic cotton, so it is really great to get the recognition for everyone in the clothing chain - from the cotton farmer to the fabric knitter, embroiderer and garment factory - who are involved in this process. We are also really pleased to be the first recipient of this organic fashion award and hope that it will help raise the profile of organic clothing everywhere.”
